Why can't I get Blu Rays to fit screen.?

I have a Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-Ray player and a Samsung PN42B430 42" t.v. connected via an HDMI cable. The blu ray player is set to 16:9 and 720p, the t.v. is set to 16:9 and 720p and all the movies I've tried playing (The Hangover, 300, Inglorious
